Building up the sky some more On the right here in the sky, you can see I have added another thin wash of a darker colour. This will be rubbed back with a rag and very gradually the modelling of the clouds will take shape. Again, instead of looking better it begins to look worse again. This is a constant process in painting, and requires faith patience and work to avoid discouragement. It also requires the experience of knowing where you are going. Ok, so I made that last bit up. I don't always know EXACTLY, and yet I have faith that something will work if I keep at it long enough, and with experience there is certainly much I can draw from in terms of techniques and directions. |
