Drawing up
Right, now the boring stuff is over I get to draw. In many cases I square the image up first, if perspective is a key issue, or if I wish to remain especially faithful to the subject. First the image I am working from is squared up, then the canvas itself. Although this helps, there is still margin for error, depending on how many squares I make. I draw using a light coloured pencil, as using an ordinary lead pencil would mix with the paints and discolour them.
