'I need a fix' Oil on canvas, about 1990

This is an early painting from my 'angry young man' period. It is stream of consciousness work, and has no particular meaning or story, though typical issues I was thinking about at the time are present such as pollution, pain, feelings of rejection and isolation, and the cold advance of industrialism. In contrast to the dark themes, the painting is highly playful in its design and colourful. I am still very proud of its strong dancing linework and complex composition, and think its a great painting
