The Ecstasy of Decay (Who can be ringing your doorbell at 2AM Herb?)

This painting raises a few legitimate questions. Like: If it's 2am, why is it still light in the Australian desert? Why is Dagwood having breakfast with his neighbour at 2am? If Herb is cooking eggs, are they free range? I don't have any answers sorry, but the background landscape came from a vivid dream I had where I was wandering around a deserted town at sunset, overcome with pure ecstasy. To me there is ecstasy in decay and emptiness, and the most beautiful towns are crumbling ones. When people vacate a town, it crumbles, leaving a great peace. Maybe when ideas and thoughts crumble, a great peace arrives also.
