step 7 I've found with my paintings that they slow down exponentionally after an initial dramatic beginning. Sometimes the basics of the painting all appear in one day, but then gradually the details have to come, and this process gets finer and more refined over time. Toward the end, things have slowed down so much, that day to day changes are almost unoticeable, and I am usually pretty bored. Here the details have just begun to emerge, like the reflections on the bumper bar. You can see that initially I intended the sign to read 'GO' as I felt it was a more positive message to go with the general up feel of the painting. However I also realised that these kinds of school crossing signs actually have stop written on both sides. Now I am not usually one to let reality get in the way of a good work of art, but in this case I chose to stick with reality because I wanted this image to be essentially 'straight' like a well restored old car. |
