step 13 We all know faces are difficult, and I am no exception. The human body is immensely difficuly to master for artists, and very few people today can do it. I am not one of them, but I haven't given up hope. To be honest though, even harder to paint than faces are shoes! It's true, I find that shoes are probably the hardest form on earth to master. But here over the top of the underpainting I have drawn the face in coloured pencil. TIP: Don't use graphite pencils (lead pencils) to sketch details in paintings. It's very hard to rub out, and paint will only mix with the graphite and turn grey. Coloured pencils work wonderfully, rub out easily, and don't mix with oil paint. |
