step 1 It's embarrassing to have to show this, but this is the standard of pretty much all my sketches for paintings. The reason is, I never feel the need to put any effort into these doodles. They are just very quick notes to establish the basic idea. Once I have this idea, I prefer to spend my time drawing things up properly on the actual canvas. Sometimes after this stage, I will compile a computer montage from various sketches and photographs, to work out the composition and lighting etc. In this case, I was happy to just start without any computer work. |
